Designers typically treat electrical power and energy as intangible, undifferentiated, and readily available. This work proposes a framework for approaching electrical power and energy as a material that is more tangible and visible, unique and differentiated, and may require more involvement in generating and caring for.

• sharing energy (transmitting/distributing)
• activating energy (using/consuming)
A series of design proposals puts the framework to work to explore alternative scenarios for materializing energy in everyday life. A selection of concept proposals from a larger sketchbook are presented below.
